Simple steps on How you can Test and Check Earthing at Home with Test Lamp and Multimeter
Majority of people out there doesn't know how to test and check Earthing that's why we decide to put up this article because we all must know How to Check Earthing in our various homes with Test Lamp and Multimeter in order to be safe. Meanwhile we all know that Proper earthing at home ensures safety in case of electrical shock and thunder, as we all know that this may cause a lot of damage at home. However Checking value / voltage of earthing in home electrical socket is very simple and easy to do. Moreover we may decide to check if earthing is proper or not in our homes using a Test Lamp or a Multimeter. Now Let me explain in detail.
What is a Test Lamp?
I know most of you might be asking what is test lamp, especially those that has never come in contact with test lamp before.
Now Test Lamp is a Florescent Bulb or any type of bulb connected to a lamp Holder and Electrical Wire. Meanwhile many electricians do makes use of Test Lamps as a voltage tester to check Earthing and other electrical connections.
What is a Multimeter?

Steps on How to Check Earthing in our Homes with a Test Lamp
Now Insert the Positive Wire of the Test Lamp in the Positive side (Right Hole) of the Socket and Negative Wire to the Negative side of the Socket (Left Hole).
Whe you Switch ON. the Bulb will Glow at its Full Brightness.
You have to remove the Negative Wire then leave the Positive Wire as it is.
Now u will have to insert the Negative wire in the Earthing of the Socket (Top single Hole).
The Bulb must Glow with it's Full Brightness as earlier.
Then if the Bulb does NOT Glow at all just know that there is NO Earthing / Grounding. Meanwhile if the Bulb Glows Dim, then it simply means that the Earthing is Not Proper. What you need to do ñext is to call a Professional Electrician to check it for you.
Steps on How to Check Earthing at Home with Multimeter
When it comes to AC Power supply, you need to keep the Pointer of the Multimeter at AC Value above 250 Volts. When it comes to DC, then also Keep the Pointer at a DC Value above 120 Volts.
Then Insert the Red Probe in the Positive Hole of the Socket (Right Home) and the Black Probe in the Negative Hole of the Socket which is the (Left Hole).
Check and write down the value.
Then Remove the Black Probe and insert in the Earthing Hole of the Socket which is the top hole.
Read the Value. Meanwhile note that it must be same as earlier.
However when there is NO Value of Less Value just know that the Earthing is not Ok.

What is Continuity in Electricity?
Now I know you must be asking yourself what is continuity, well Continuity is UNBROKEN Conductive path for electricity to flow. However this conductive path may be an insulated copper electric wire or a Circuit on a Printed Circuit Board.
Remember that an Operational Close Circuit is Simplest Example of Continuity in Electricity.
Meanwhile Continuity in Electricity make Use of Continuity Test in Electrical and Electronics
A Multimeter (Analog or Digital) can be used in Continuity Test Mode to Test and Check if an Electric Wire is faulty or Not, Test Fuse, Switches, Circuit Track, Electrical Connections, Several Electronic Components.
Moreover a Continuity Test is used to check and know if a Circuit is Open or Closed. Remember, only a Complete Closed Circuit will Pass Continuity Test always bear it in mind.
Meanwhile continuity test can be used to measure Resistance in an electric circuit.
Let's Show You how to Run a Continuity Test with Digital Multimeter
Now you will to insert the Black Test Probe Lead into the COM jack.
Next is to, Insert the Red Test Probe Lead into the VΩ jack then
At this point you will turn the Pointer of the Multimeter to Continuity Test mode (See the Symbol Above).
Then you will need to touch the Test Leads to the two ends of the electrical wire or legs /terminals of the component that you are testing.
Meanwhile know that Digital Multimeter will normally Produce a BEEP Sound if the Conductive Path is Close (Continuity PASS).
Then the Multimeter will NOT BEEP If the Conductive Path or Circuit is Open (Continuity FAIL).
Turn OFF the Multimeter whenever testing is Done to Save Life of the Battery.
Continuity Test Safety Measures
Never perform continuity test in a Live Wire or Circuit because anything can happen. All u will have to do is to Switch OFF and Unplug the Device to be Tested. Generally Make Sure there is NO Voltage in the Circuit to be Tested.
Make sure that all Capacitors are Discharged very important.
